Professional  Experience: 

Laura Anne Corsell is a partner in the Business Department of Montgomery McCracken and chair of its Investment Management practice group. 

Ms. Corsell counsels investment companies, independent directors/trustees and investment advisers with respect to the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and related federal and state regulations. Ms. Corsell serves as independent legal counsel for directors/trustees of both mutual funds and closed-end companies. She represents funds and advisers with respect to matters involving the registration of investment companies and advisers, the organization of multi-class, multi-manager and fund-of-funds vehicles and regulatory and compliance matters relating to both on-going operations and new product development.

Familiar with a full range of advisory products, Ms. Corsell works with advisory firms in connection with advisory contract negotiation, asset allocation, wrap and performance fee arrangements, and regulatory and compliance matters relating, including the organization and operation of private investment vehicles. Ms. Corsell is experienced in handling transactional matters relating involving the acquisition of investment advisory firms and investment company reorganizations, representing listed and unlisted closed-end investment companies and in providing independent compliance and regulatory advice in connection with administrative proceedings and enforcement actions.

Ms. Corsell began her career at the Securities and Exchange Commission where she served on the staff of the Division of Investment Management in both the Commission's Washington, DC headquarters and its New York based enforcement office.  She also held positions with two leading investment advisory firms, in each case with responsibility for all matters arising under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.  Ms. Corsell also practiced with Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll before establishing, in 1994, the boutique investment management practice that later became the Corsell Law Group, Ltd. and successfully transitioned to Montgomery McCracken in 2007.

Professional  Activities:

Ms. Corsell is a member of the American Bar Association's Subcommittee on Investment Companies and Investment Advisers; the Philadelphia Bar Association's Investment Company Act Subcommittee as well as the New York based Women's Investment Management Forum and initiated a course in mutual fund regulation, which she taught at Rutgers/Camden School of Law between 1999 and 2002.

Ms. Corsell is a graduate of Rutgers/Camden School of Law, where she served on the law review, and of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (B.A. magna cum laude).
