Eric Chang is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and Maritime and Transportation practice group. Eric has represented commercial clients in litigation involving personal injuries, breaches of contract, breaches of warranty, and commercial real estate disputes.

As a member of the Maritime and Transportation practice group, Eric represents P&I Clubs and ocean carriers in defending claims for damaged or lost cargo carried on container ships and by inland truck and rail, and has extensive experience in handling maritime regulatory penalties before the Federal Maritime Commission and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Eric regularly counsels Non‑Vessel Operating Common Carrier and Freight Forwarder clients concerning bills of lading and cargo operations.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Eric was an associate at a boutique New York law firm specializing in admiralty and transportation litigation. Eric also worked as a Technical Director for a risk management software company, where he collaborated with clients and investment firms to assess investment management agreements prior to encoding onto a technical database in compliance with SEC regulations.

Selected Representations

  • Represented some of the largest ocean carriers in connection with U.S. Customs and Border Protection penalties for stowaways and illegal narcotics, including obtaining a complete mitigation and remission of the assessed penalty.

Eric received a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2008 and earned a B.S., in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside in 2004.
