Joseph P. McCool

Associate

Joseph P. McCool is an associate in Montgomery McCracken’s Litigation Department. He focuses his practice on white collar and government investigations. Joseph has extensive experience trying jury trials and litigating pretrial motions in assigned cases. Joseph is highly skilled in conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting statutes, interviewing victims and witnesses, managing discovery, and negotiating positive case resolution.

Joseph is a Major in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. As an Army Reservist, Joseph serves as a trusted legal advisor to a brigade commander. He is also responsible for overseeing military investigations and he has an in-depth knowledge of military law and regulations. He was previously a Special Victim Counsel where he represented sexual assault victims and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advocating for his clients’ interests. On active duty in the Army, Joseph was a military prosecutor who represented the United States in criminal and administrative matters.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Joseph served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia. As an AUSA, Joseph successfully represented the United States in complex jury trials, including financial and white-collar cases. Before his time at the Department of Justice, Joseph was an Assistant District Attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Homicide Unit.

Joseph is currently enrolled in The George Washington University’s LL.M. Government Procurement Program. He has received training in federal government contracts law, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation, procurement statutes, and regulatory compliance.
