Paul Apicella is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Labor and Employment practice. He focuses his practice on the institutional response to sex and/or gender-based harassment and misconduct (including Title IX) and other forms of discrimination (EO), including: policy formation; investigations; adjudication of student and employee disciplinary matters; and training and education. Paul regularly advises senior leadership, counsel, student affairs, human resources, campus law enforcement, and Title IX Coordinators in implementing processes that are fair and impartial. He has been engaged to serve as Interim Title IX Coordinator at institutions experiencing turnover in Title IX administrative roles. He also provides comprehensive pre-litigation counseling to address potential risks before matters enter the courtroom, including planning for possible government agency investigations and enforcement actions.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Paul served as Title IX Compliance Administrator for three national universities and was an associate with a large national law firm.

Prior to his legal career, Paul served five years in the United States Navy.

Paul received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and awarded multiple honors including the Robert E. Lamberton Award; Jerry Zaslow Award; Outstanding Oral Advocacy in Trial Advocacy I, and; Outstanding Oral Argument in Legal Research and Writing. He graduated, magna cum laude, with a B.A. from the University of Arizona.
