Biography

Renee Nunley Smith serves as Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department and is a member of the Labor and Employment Group. Renee represents national, regional, and local employers in employment litigation involving claims under federal and state law. Her practice also focuses on counseling employers on a wide range of employment issues and conducting workplace investigations.

Renee frequently represents employers before federal and state courts and before administrative agencies on matters involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, breach of contract, and wrongful termination claims. Renee is also experienced in counseling clients on a variety of workplace issues, including employee hiring, performance management and termination, reductions in force, creating and implementing policies, and drafting various employment agreements.

Renee also counsels public and private clients on traditional labor issues and represents employers in labor negotiations and arbitrations.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Renee was an attorney at a large national law firm, where she focused on all labor and employment issues. In addition to her career as a practicing attorney, Renee is the founding principal of a real estate development company where she directed and oversaw single and multifamily housing acquisition and development.

  • Represented gaming industry client against claims of discrimination in federal court and before administrative agencies.
  • Defended supermarket chain against age discrimination claim in state court.
  • Provided management training to global food company employees on avoiding sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in the workplace.
