Robert H. Bender, Jr. is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Bert was a law clerk at The Boonswang Law Firm where he conducted client intake, legal research, and drafted legal memoranda, letters of representation, demands, complaints, and motions for life insurance and personal injury litigation. Bert also completed internships with the Philadelphia Law Department Civil Rights Unit, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted numerous trials and preliminary hearings in Philadelphia Municipal Court, and the Honorable Timothy R. Rice of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Prior to his legal career, Bert served five years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Captain.  He served as a Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer with 9th Communication Battalion, where he deployed to Iraq.  He also served as the Inspector-Instructor Officer in Charge for Marine Wing Communication Squadron 48.

Academic Achievements

Bert received a J.D. degree from Temple University, James Beasley School of Law in 2015 where he served as a Note/Comment Editor on the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review and was active in student government. He was awarded the Lena L. Hale Award for outstanding extracurricular contributions to the law school community. He earned a B.S. degree in History from the United States Naval Academy in 2007, where he was a member of the Lightweight Rowing Team.
