Security Systems Precedent

Montgomery McCracken achieved a major victory in the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit for the security systems and alarm industry. A commercial customer had sued our client, an alarm company, claiming the alarm system failed to function during a fire and that plaintiff sustained millions of dollars in damages. The unanimous decision rejected all of the plaintiff’s liability claims: contractual, strict liability, and negligence. Our client was also awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in defense costs. This decision was regarded as one of the most important wins for the alarm systems industry in years, and established important precedent.
