Tax Planning Strategies

Montgomery McCracken’s tax section has worked and continues to work extensively with four major oil and gas companies in connection with tax planning for each company’s divestment of various refinery and marketing assets, aggregating so far to more than $3.5 billion, and acquisition of new assets. The firm’s client, Wachovia Exchange Services, acts as a like-kind exchange intermediary and/or “exchange accommodation titleholder” in connection with these dispositions, and Montgomery McCracken attorneys work with legal and tax department attorneys at each of the companies to establish exchange procedures and document the transactions.
