Chalos O’Connor senior partner Eugene O’Connor is joining law firm Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads.

The move comes as his Port Washington, New York, firm co-owned with Michael Chalos closes up shop this week, as TradeWinds reported earlier today. Both maritime lawyers say the split is amicable, with Chalos leaving for K&L Gates.

O’Connor joins a firm that he has worked alongside for years, as both have represented Tsakos Shipping & Trading since the 2004 oil spill from the 60,900-dwt Athos I (built 1983, scrapped 2008). The battle remains in litigation 10 years later.
