Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads attorney John M. Myers, along with Eleanor Myers, professor at Temple University presented their “Ripped from the Headlines: Ethics Issues in the News” CLE at Temple University.  The week’s headlines aptly teed up points of discussion and debate and covered topics ranging from the continuing issues over ‘who is the client?,’ a question raised in the prosecution of Penn State administrators and their relation with PSU’s General Counsel; how circumstances might affect the payment and the receipt of referral fees; a lawyer’s obligation in the electronic/cloud age including privacy; confidentiality and oversight concerns, particularly when a client is communicating over an employer’s email system; and issues involving what ‘civility’ means to the various stakeholders in the legal system.

Myers’ litigation practice includes higher education issues, partnership and closely held business claims and disputes, and claims involving employment, real estate, lender liability, joint venture issues, securities industry disputes, contract negotiation, and general business counsel including contractual and employment litigation matters.  He has participated in large institutional crisis management, both in government and the private sector.  Myers lectures frequently on areas related to his practice.  He is also an adjunct professor at Temple Law School.
