May 20, 2021

Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce Ernest D. Holtzheimer has been elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation (“ABF”). Fellows are recommended by their peers and elected by the Board of the ABF. The Fellows comprise a global honorary society of lawyers, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the profession and service to society. Membership is limited to one percent of the lawyers admitted to practice in the United States and its territories and to a limited number of lawyers in international jurisdictions.

Founded in 1952, the ABF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a leading institute for the empirical study of law in the United States. The ABF conducts cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research that addresses critical questions at the intersection of law and society, e.g., access to justice, the function of juries in our legal system, law and health, levels of lawyer career satisfaction, the social costs of mass incarceration, diversity and equal justice, legal education, law and globalization, the impact of early childhood education, and many more.

Holtzheimer is a partner in the firm’s Business Department and is Co-Chair of the Private Capital and Emerging Companies Practice Group. Holtzheimer concentrates his practice in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, and general corporate matters. He has counseled numerous clients in a wide variety of industries with respect to their general operations, structure, governance, and in connection with complex transactions.

An active member of the community, Holtzheimer serves on the Executive Advisory Board of Special Olympics PA, the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, the leadership of the ABA Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee, and the Board of Directors of both the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group Alumni Association and Philadelphia Area Diversity Job Fair. He is also an editor of Montgomery McCracken’s Private Business Counsel blog and a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

Holtzheimer received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, with a Business and Entrepreneurship Concentration. He earned an M.B.A. degree in Finance and B.S. degrees, cum laude, in Entrepreneurship and Business Management with a focus on International Studies, from Rowan University William G. Rohrer College of Business, where he now serves as an adjunct professor, on the Entrepreneurship Advisory Council and as Managing Director of the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund.
