Georgette Castner Appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character

CHERRY HILL, NEW JERSEY – Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce partner Georgette Castner was recently appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on the Supreme Court Committee on Character for a three-year term (effective July 18, 2017 through June 30, 2020). The purpose of the Committee on Character is to determine the fitness to practice law of each candidate seeking admission to the Bar of the State of New Jersey and to promote the public interest and to protect the integrity of the legal profession. The Committee on Character is broken into five parts, each part reviewing applications from different areas of the state. Castner will serve to review candidates in Part IV, covering Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, and Salem Counties.

Castner is located in the firm’s Cherry Hill, N.J. office. She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis in products liability and catastrophic injury matters. Castner has also represented individuals in white collar and ethics cases as well as public and private entities in government investigations and regulatory compliance matters.

She is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Castner is active in the legal community and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Camden County Bar Association, the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey and the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association. Castner is also on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges for its 2016-2018 term.

Castner received a J.D., with honors, from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden. While in law school, she served as Research Editor for the Rutgers Law Journal. She was also selected as a Governor’s Executive Fellow and completed course work at the Eagleton Institute of Politics. Castner earned a B.S., cum laude, from The College of New Jersey.
