Robert H. Bender Appointed as Secretary of the Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce Robert H. Bender was appointed to a new leadership position on the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Bender, who was elected to the YLD Executive Committee for a three-year term in February 2017, has also been appointed as Secretary of the YLD Executive Committee to serve a one-year term (effective January 1, 2018).

The mission of the YLD is to promote the interests of young lawyers. The YLD Executive Committee manages and directs the business and activities of the YLD, which has more than 2,900 members. The YLD Executive Committee has oversight of 20 committees in the areas of public service, law-related education and service to the legal community. Throughout the year, members of the YLD are involved in numerous committees to develop programs that help children, the elderly, the disadvantaged, and many more.

Bender is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Military Assistance Project (MAP) and he is also a mentor in the Philadelphia Veterans Court.  Prior to his legal career, Bender served five years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Captain.  He served as a Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer with 9th Communication Battalion, where he deployed to Iraq, and also served as the Inspector-Instructor Officer in Charge for Marine Wing Communication Squadron 48. Bender received a J.D. degree from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law and earned a B.S. degree in History from the United States Naval Academy.
