Pierre-Louis turns 40 on Saturday, putting her in the position of potentially serving “for decades to come,” as Gov. Phil Murphy put it.

It’s official: Fabiana Pierre-Louis, a former partner in the Cherry Hill office of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, who broke ground as the first Black woman to head two U.S. Attorney’s Office branches in New Jersey, is becoming the next associate justice on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

By a 39-0 vote at 2:05 p.m., the Senate confirmed Pierre-Louis’ nomination to the state’s highest court.
