BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Business Development and Marketing Coordinator supports the Firm’s business development and marketing activities, with a focus on helping practice groups and individual attorneys execute client development initiatives, pitches and requests for proposals, presentations, rankings and award submissions, experience collection, the Firm’s client relationship management (CRM) tool, research and analysis, data entry, events, strategic project support, and other related activities. This position will work under the direction of the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer (CMBDO) and will work closely with lawyers, business development team members, and other firm personnel to coordinate practice group and attorney business development and marketing efforts. Additionally, this role will support the overall Marketing Department efforts in planning, coordinating and executing all marketing activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist CMBDO in the overall implementation of marketing and business development plans and initiatives, including maintaining systems to track initiatives.
  • Collaborate with practice groups on best practices for developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives that support their overall business development goals.
  • Assist practice groups with their efforts to introduce and develop relationships with existing firm clients, prospective clients, industry associations, speaking and conference presentation opportunities.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and effective use of knowledge management and business development tools such as, but not limited to, a CRM, an experience database, a proposal generator, matter and experience tracking systems, and/or other analytical software platforms. Leverage these tools and others to identify relationship targets, maintain proposal content and experience items, track pitches and proposals, and report on trends, ROI and advisable strategies.
  • Support the production and management of seminars, receptions, webinars, conferences, sponsorships, speaking engagements, presentations, and other marketing-oriented and client-facing activities, including but not limited to mailing list creation, event promotion, development of invitations and other client communications, concept development, attorney preparation, vendor selection, on-site or virtual support, and post-event follow-up tracking.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business development skills training for attorneys as well as a targeted attorney internal education program to ensure lawyers across the Firm are aware of and able to articulate the full breadth of Firm services for cross-selling purposes.
  • In collaboration with the CMBDO, participate in creation of and support of a strategic account management program. Maintain a deep knowledge of program and assigned clients, client contacts, industry and client strategic priorities. Maintain and track industry and client-level issues facing organizations and apply those findings to the strategy for assigned clients.
  • Help support the Firm’s lateral integration program.
  • Assist in pitches, proposals, RFPs, presentations, and related research and follow-through, including identifying applicable content, editing existing content, drafting new content, coordinating internal information and research requests, proofreading materials, managing timelines, assembling final deliverables, and coordinating production and delivery of finished work product.
  • Collect, organize, and coordinate practice group experience information, representative matters, deal or case descriptions, and other supporting data for pitches, proposals, website updates, submissions, and rankings or awards directories, including Chambers and similar publications.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, business development team members, Research Services, Finance and Accounting, administrative personnel, and other internal stakeholders to obtain accurate matter, client, financial, research, and credentialing information for business development projects.
  • Maintain and update business development collateral and practice group marketing materials, including attorney biographies, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, experience lists, webpages, and other client-facing content.
  • Use CRM and experience management systems to identify and confirm relationship targets, maintain accurate client and contact information, enter experience and proposal data, and support pitch, proposal, and relationship tracking.
  • Perform research as needed.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ABILITIES, OR KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the legal or professional services industry.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including an ability to meet deadlines and work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, team player.
  • Works well in teams and autonomously.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience using CRM, experience management, proposal content, or marketing database platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with pitches, proposals, RFPs, rankings and awards submissions, Chambers submissions, legal directory submissions, sponsorships, conferences, and attorney-facing marketing projects is preferred.
  • Ability to gather, evaluate, edit, proofread, and organize information from attorneys and administrative departments into accurate, polished, and client-ready marketing and business development materials.
  • Able to work with all levels of firm management.
  • Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Business-related areas.
