Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Financial Analysis partners with the Chief Financial Officer on financial planning, analysis, and reporting. This role focuses on partner analysis, year-end reporting, and management reporting that supports firm leadership, attorneys, and practice groups.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Serve as a key analysis partner to the CFO, providing recommendations and decision-support materials on firm-wide financial performance.
- Lead regular partner analysis, including profitability, realization, collections, margins, and related views by partner, practice group, client, matter, and timekeeper.
- Support year-end analysis, reporting packages, and related CFO deliverables.
- Develop and maintain financial models, variance analyses, dashboards, and management reporting packages.
- Support the annual budgeting process, including consolidation and analysis of projections for CFO review and Management Committee presentation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports and ad hoc analyses for the CFO and firm leadership.
- Support scenario modeling and special projects as requested by the CFO.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting quality, analysis, and efficiency.
- Partner with the Financial Services team to obtain accurate, timely data from Elite 3E and related platforms.
- Help define reporting needs and improve the usefulness of systems output for leadership analysis.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; MBA, CPA, or CMA a plus.
- Progressive finance experience with a strong emphasis on FP&A, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Law firm finance experience required.
- Experience with partner profitability, realization, or similar performance analysis strongly preferred.
Technology
- Experience with Elite 3E or a similar law firm financial/practice management system highly desired.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial reporting or dashboard tools a plus.
Skills
- Strong analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to present analysis to the CFO and firm leadership.
- Ability to operate at both a detailed and executive level, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Collaborative style and the ability to work effectively with Accounting, Billing, Collections, and Financial Systems teams.
