Trust and Estate Administration Paralegal

The Trust and Estate Administration Paralegal provides legal support for multiple attorneys in the Trusts and Estates Practice Group. The position reports to the supported attorneys, with a dotted line to the Director of Operations. This is a hybrid role that requires in office attendance three days per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Drafting legal documents, managing financial records, communicating with clients and beneficiaries.
- Ensuring the smooth and accurate handling of complex legal matters related to probate.
- Administering estates including preparing inheritance and estate tax returns and estate and trust income tax returns, using estate administration software.
- Preparing estate and trust court accountings and related papers.
- Ensuring legal documents meet requirements of attorneys, clients, courts and taxing authorities.
- Preparing and filing necessary documents with probate court.
- Communicating and interacting with clients as well as with external constituencies, and governmental offices regarding estate administration.
- Maintaining open communication with attorneys and others who provide support to attorneys, both within the Firm and externally.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Performs other duties as required by position.
- Takes part in training sessions as offered by the Firm and seeks education as needed in order to perform required tasks.
- Maintains online and paper files and prepares various reports as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ABILITIES, OR KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of Lackner, CCH ProSystems.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Must have 3+ years of estate administration experience in a law firm.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
- Being responsive to attorneys and clients.
- Meeting deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure.
- Understanding legal terminology.
- Problem solving.
- Ability to deal discreetly with confidential information.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, Paralegal certificate.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Occasional overtime work may be required throughout the year.
- Works under frequent deadlines and time pressure.
