Montgomery McCracken today announced that the firm has named Ellen C. Brotman, Gregory J. Hauck, Michael B. Hayes, and Joyce B. Link to its partnership. The attorneys bring a diverse range of litigation experience to the partnership, bolstering practices throughout the firm.
Ellen C. Brotman concentrates her practice on government investigations and white collar criminal defense and representation of attorneys before the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Prior to joining the firm Ms. Brotman was a member in the firm Carroll & Brotman, was an Assistant Federal Defender, and clerked for the Honorable Lee P. Gagliardi in the United States District Court in the Southern District of New York. She is a member of the board of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the People’s Emergency Center. In addition to her professional affiliations, Brotman co-authors a monthly column for the Legal Intelligencer addressing key issues in professional conduct. Brotman received a J.D. degree from Albany Law School at Union University in 1987 where she served as note and comment editor of the Albany Law Review. She is admitted to practice in United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits, United States Tax Court, United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, United States District Court for Washington, D.C., and the states of New York and Pennsylvania.
Gregory J. Hauck is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department, where his practice concentrates on class action defense and commercial litigation. Mr. Hauck has handled a wide variety of complex cases, including representing a large software manufacturer in antitrust and consumer fraud class actions, a large public accounting firm in securities fraud cases and several professional services firms in breach of contract, fraud and malpractice actions. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hauck served as a law clerk for the Honorable Russell M. Nigro of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He also worked in the commercial audit division of Arthur Andersen, LLP as a certified public accountant. He received his J.D. degree in 1998 from Villanova University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. Mr. Hauck is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Michael B. Hayes is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. He concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, including products liability, class action and white collar criminal matters involving pharmaceutical manufacturers and other business entities. Mr. Hayes also handles professional responsibility matters in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is an elected member of the Board of Governors for the Philadelphia Bar Association, a past Chair of its Young Lawyers Division, and an investigative team leader for the Association’s Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention. Mr. Hayes sits on the Boards of Directors for the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program and the Homeless Advocacy Project. Along with fellow newly-elected partner Ellen Brotman, Mr. Hayes co-authors a Professional Conduct article which is published monthly in the Legal Intelligencer. Mr. Hayes received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University in 1998, where he served as a staff member on the Temple Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hayes served as a law clerk for the Honorable Russell M. Nigro of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Hayes is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Joyce B. Link is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Labor & Employment Departments. Her practice focuses on litigation and labor and employment matters for higher education and nonprofit organizations. Ms. Link also represents insurance companies in high-exposure insurance bad faith claims. She is also vice chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. Link’s notable clients include a distinguished horticultural institution for which she is outside general counsel, as well as a private trade school. Ms. Link received a J.D. degree from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1983 and earned a bachelor of art degree from Washington University where she dual-majored in Psychology and Education. Ms. Link is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
