Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce that Edward L. Schnitzer has been named a “2020 Committee Member of the Year” by the American Bankruptcy Institute (“ABI”). Schnitzer has been an ABI member since 2005 and a member of its Mediation Committee since 2018. Schnitzer and his co-awardee, Connor Bifferato, were recognized for their engaging and thought-provoking Mediation Friday hypothetical listserv posts that they create and distribute as part of their roles as the communication managers of the Mediation Committee.
ABI is the nation’s largest association of bankruptcy professionals, comprised of nearly 11,000 members in multidisciplinary roles. ABI’s active committees focus on specific areas of insolvency. Each committee publishes a quarterly newsletter, plans educational sessions for ABI’s large conferences, and hosts a variety of webinars throughout the year.
Schnitzer is chair of Montgomery McCracken’s Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Department and serves as an ex-officio member of the firm’s Management Committee. He is a court-approved mediator in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Delaware and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Schnitzer received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a Certificate of Completion for the Inaugural Bankruptcy Mediation Class in 2011 from St. John’s University School of Law and the Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution.
