PHILADELPHIA, May 3, 2010 – Montgomery McCracken today proudly announced that the firm was recently presented with the “Outstanding Center of Influence award” for its support of the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade while the 28th CAB was deployed in Iraq. The Outstanding Center of Influence award is given to an individual or organization chosen by the unit itself for their assistance to soldiers during mobilization. The 28th CAB members were responsible for nominating Montgomery McCracken for the award.
Montgomery McCracken’s partner and organizer of the firm’s donations, Jeremy Mishkin, accepted the award on behalf of the firm, at the recent Defenders of Freedom, Freedom Salute Ceremony which took place on April 17th at the Pennsylvania Army National Guard 28th Combat Aviation Brigade Armory at Fort Indiantown Gap. The firm’s recognition came as a result of its support for Lt. Col. Gregg Clark and his colleagues during their recent deployment to Iraq.
Montgomery McCracken began supporting the 28th CAB in April 2009 when the unit was deployed to Iraq. After requesting a wish list from the brigade, the Firm sent the soldiers a steady stream of boxes filled with comforts from home such as books, movies, coffee and iced tea.
“During the ceremony, I had the chance to meet many of the soldiers who were on the receiving end of those shipments, and it was truly an award in itself to see their faces light up and see face to face what those shipments meant to them.” said Mishkin. “It’s tremendously humbling to be given this award and I know I speak on behalf of everyone at Montgomery McCracken when I say that the true recognition goes to the men and women serving our country. They are the heroes that inspire us each and every day. We feel lucky that we were able to, in our own small way, help brighten up their days.”
Throughout the past year Mishkin drove donations by informing his colleagues when collections would be conducted. The firm’s lawyers and administrative staff were encouraged to donate coffee, mugs, books, magazines, DVD’s, skin care products and non-perishable (and heat-resistant) treats, as well as cash to be used to purchase the supplies requested by the brigade. That effort was subsequently expanded to include what were dubbed “Victoria’s Secret packages” for female soldiers, which includes packages filled with lotions and aromatic skincare products.
Lt. Col. Clark visited Montgomery McCracken last November while home for leave. He brought a Certificate of Appreciation for the Firm’s support, as well as an American Flag that he flew in a Chinook Helicopter over Iraq on September 11, 2009.
“I know how much it meant to Gregg and his brigade that people back home were thinking about them and acknowledging all their incredible work and service,” said Montgomery McCracken associate Jennifer Canfield, Lt. Col. Clark’s girlfriend. “I feel fortunate to work at a firm with people such as Jeremy who truly care about recognizing the men and women that serve our country and help keep us safe at home.”
