Partner John J. Levy Recertified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney

CHERRY HILL, NJ – Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce that partner John J. Levy has been recertified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. The Supreme Court of New Jersey, through its Board on Attorney Certification, designated only lawyers who are able to meet the standards set by the board and approved by the Supreme Court.

According to the New Jersey Supreme Court, in December 2016, there were approximately 75,000 active attorneys in New Jersey, but only 1650 (2.2%) were certified as specialists in civil trial work. In order to be a certified civil trial attorney, an attorney must have been a member in good standing of the New Jersey bar for more than 5 years before applying; fulfilled ongoing continuing legal education requirements; demonstrated a substantial level of experience in civil trial law; been favorably evaluated by other attorneys and judges familiar with his/her work, and; taken and passed a written examination in civil trial law. The New Jersey Supreme Court first certified Levy as a civil trial attorney in 2000 and this recertification extends to November 30, 2022.

Levy is a partner in Montgomery McCracken’s Litigation Department and co-chair of the firm’s Maritime and Transportation practice group. His practice includes all aspects of civil litigation in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania State and federal courts. Levy’s practice emphasizes broad maritime law, intermodal transportation litigation, trucking litigation, plaintiff’s personal injury litigation, as well as complex commercial and product liability litigation.  In addition, Levy has specific professional knowledge and experience in the shipping, trucking, intermodal, and automotive industries.
