CHERRY HILL, N.J.—Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce that Melanie A. Leney of the firm’s Cherry Hill office has been elected to the board of trustees of the Alice Paul Institute, a nonprofit whose mission is to promote gender equality. Leney is also serving as co-chair of the Alice Paul Equality Awards Gala, of which the firm is a sponsor. The event, which honors individuals who capture the spirit of Alice Paul and have helped to advance women’s equality, is scheduled to take place Thursday, March 20, at the Westin Mount Laurel in New Jersey.
Leney is an associate in Montgomery McCracken’s Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on general litigation, maritime and transportation, employment litigation, products liability, personal injury and white collar defense. She assists clients in all aspects of civil litigation in New Jersey and Pennsylvania state and federal courts. She previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Anthony J. Parrillo of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division. Leney received a J.D. degree from Rutgers School of Law – Camden in May 2007.

The Alice Paul Institute is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation based in Mount Laurel, N.J. It was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated volunteers to commemorate the centennial of Alice Paul’s 1885 birth and to further her legacy. Today, four staff members, as well as volunteers, oversee the daily business and special events. Its mission is to promote full gender equality through education, development and empowerment of leaders.
