PHILADELPHIA-Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce that partner Lathrop B. Nelson, III has been elected to the board of directors of the Committee of Seventy, a non-partisan government watchdog group in Philadelphia that works to achieve clean and effective government, fair elections and informed citizens.Nelson is a partner in the Litigation Department at Montgomery McCracken. He concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, white collar crime and government investigations. Nelson has particular experience handling civil and criminal matters involving alleged fraudulent conduct, antitrust and collusive behavior and other financial crimes. He represents individuals and corporate entities in all phases of civil and criminal litigation, including internal investigations. Nelson has argued civil and criminal appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits and Pennsylvania Commonwealth and Superior Courts. He served as a key member of the defense team representing U.S. Army Brigadier General Jeffrey Sinclair in a court-martial at Fort Bragg, N.C. against allegations of sexual assault and other misconduct, in which the court imposed no jail sentence and no dismissal from service.
Additionally, Nelson serves as an editor of the firm’s White Collar Alert blog, focused on government investigations and white collar crime. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Chief Justice of the William Minor Lile Moot Court Board, and is a cum laude graduate of Washington and Lee University.
