High Court Allows for Direct Delivery of Specialty Wines to Pennsylvania Consumers

The high court on Thursday issued a one-sentence order affirming a ruling from Commonwealth Court Judge P. Kevin Brobson, who had found that the agency was failing to properly implement changes to the liquor code.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board must allow for direct delivery of specialty wines, the state Supreme Court has ruled after a dispute around about whether bottles needed to be routed through the state agency first before making their way to customers.

Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads attorney John Papianou, who represented the plaintiffs, did not return a call seeking comment. A spokesman for the PLCB declined to comment until the board had evaluated the ruling.
