William K. Kennedy

William K. Kennedy is a partner in Montgomery McCracken's Litigation Department and vice-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. Bill has spent his entire career representing management in employment-related litigation; labor and employment counseling, training, and policy development; and traditional labor matters.

Bill has represented employers in a wide range of employment litigation, including cases alleging retaliation, harassment, and discrimination. He has tried cases under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the First Amendment. He also regularly handles restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, as well as wage and hour litigation, including collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

On the counseling side, Bill advises employers on the full spectrum of labor and personnel issues — from drafting employment contracts and restrictive covenants to planning reductions in force and navigating the workforce implications of mergers, acquisitions, and asset purchases. He has extensive experience conducting harassment and wage and hour investigations.

Bill’s traditional labor practice includes unfair labor practice proceedings, representation matters, jurisdictional disputes, labor negotiations and arbitrations, and negotiating and implementing project labor agreements.

Bill received his J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review and the Order of the Coif. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Wake Forest University.
