Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce that Lathrop Nelson and John Papianou have been named to The Legal 500’s Philadelphia Elite rankings. Nelson was recognized in tier 3 of the White Collar Crime category, and Papianou was recognized in tier 3 of the Commercial Disputes category.
Nelson is co-chair of Montgomery McCracken’s White Collar and Government Investigations practice group and a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. He concentrates on white collar and government investigations and complex commercial, products liability, and toxic tort litigation. He has particular experience handling civil and criminal matters involving alleged fraudulent conduct, including alleged violations of the False Claims Act, as well as health care fraud, public corruption, antitrust, environmental crimes, tax fraud, securities fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and other financial crimes. He represents individuals and corporate entities in all phases of civil and criminal litigation, including internal investigations.
Papianou is co-chair of Montgomery McCracken, chair of the Consumer Financial Services Practice Group, and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. He concentrates his practice in complex civil litigation, with particular emphasis on consumer class actions involving claims under federal and state consumer protection statutes. Papianou has extensive experience briefing significant and novel class action issues at the trial and appellate levels. In addition to his class action experience, Papianou has substantial experience defending consumer reporting agencies against claims brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
