Montgomery McCracken is pleased to welcome Joel Schneider, United States Magistrate Judge (Ret.), as Of Counsel in the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution practice in the Cherry Hill, NJ office. Joel joins his predecessor, Joel B. Rosen, United States Magistrate Judge (Ret.), Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution practice.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about Joel joining our firm,” said Richard M. Simins, Chairman of Montgomery McCracken. “It’s a privilege to have another highly respected former jurist in our ranks. Joel has developed a national reputation for his case management and settlement skills and his talent and experience with handling complex matters will be a dynamic addition to our firm.”

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Joel served as United States Magistrate Judge in the District of New Jersey for 14 years. During his appointment, Joel managed, settled, and decided thousands of cases in all aspects of civil litigation, including employment, civil rights, IP, class/collective actions, products liability, contract, data breach, pharmaceutical, and other disputes. While on the Bench, Joel developed a well-deserved reputation for effectively managing and settling complex and multi-party individual and class action cases, including three multidistrict litigations.

“Judge Schneider was widely respected during his years as a Federal Magistrate Judge,” said Paul H. Zoubek, a partner in the firm’s Cherry Hill office. “He also brings extensive experience as a civil litigator before he took the bench which makes him uniquely suited to assist with mediations, arbitrations, and special master assignments. It is exciting to have both Judge Schneider and former federal Judge Joel Rosen at the firm.”

Before his judicial appointment, Joel practiced law in the tri-state area for 26 years, where he specialized in complex civil litigation.

“After I retired from the Bench, I was anxious to associate with a preeminent firm in the area and to work alongside professionals that I knew well and respected,” Joel commented. “Montgomery McCracken fit the bill perfectly. I am looking forward to joining the firm and working alongside my predecessor and mentor Judge Joel Rosen.”

Joel is currently a member of the Lawyer’s Advisory Committee for the District of New Jersey, a Trustee of the Federal Bar Association of New Jersey, and an Advisor to the Historical Society for the District of New Jersey. Before his six-year tenure expired, Joel was appointed by Chief Justice Roberts to be the only Magistrate Judge member of the Federal State Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States. He received a J.D. degree from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and earned a B.A. from the Brooklyn College.
